LUSC Mens Seniors Vs Western Eagles

Go Back to Seniors Team Page here

It was a windy start to the season as La Trobe celebrated the first game of the season with players from its past, and they weren’t disappointed early. La Trobe dominated the first half of the game and had all the early chances. A solid performance from Nick in the middle of the park was well complimented by a hard working Paul Umina on the right. Pat was making good runs but was unable to convert his chances. The hard work came undone late in the first half when Anthony punched the ball into Tek’s chest, which then rebounded into the goal. As La Trobe began to chase the game, Western Eagles capitalised half way through the second half when two defensive turnovers led to a couple of tap in goals. La Trobe fought back, with Lino getting on the end of two crosses to pull back the margin to one goal. Last desperate attempts from La Trobe, including two line clearances, were not converted and the scored ended 2 goals to 3.

It was a tough way to start the season, especially for Anthony, AD, Lino, Archie and Steve who all made their debut for the club. Tek was ordered to spend less time building his chest as it was getting in the way. Pat asked for moisturiser to be added to the kit for windy days.

The result of this match was reversed by the FFV after it was discovered that Western Eagles played with an illegal player.
A Bit of luck for the Seniors.
