“On the eighth day, God created…Petka”
The People’s Team returned to the Mecca that is The Lower Playing Field after nabbing their first points of the season. They were intent on claiming some more. Precision passing was on the menu in the first twenty minutes as The People’s Team continued to turn their opponents inside out and find attacking opportunities with a few coming from club stalwart, Derrick ‘Boz’ Berends. After conceding a corner from one of Boz’s sizzlers, the deadlock was broken in the 38th minute. A Tasevski corner was met at the point of the eight yard box by a hungry, salivating Frank Petkovic. He pulled out his nine-iron and lofted one over the keeper with sheer brilliance to put The People’s Team 1-0 ahead. No more than 3 minutes had elapsed when Geelong were bashful enough to concede a free kick just outside the penalty area. Up stepped Luca ‘I’m Calm’ Finanzio to curl his free kick around the wall, past the 8” goalkeeper, crashing it into the crossbar. Like a bird of prey, Petka opened up his huge talons and swooped on the ball, smashing it into the net. Frank Petkovic 2, Geelong SC 0.

Something was brewing. A hat-trick, perhaps? After conceding an early goal in the second half, The People’s Team stepped up the aggressive game play winning some tough balls all over the pitch. Contributors being, Lou ‘The Wiz’ Cifone and Cang ‘De Kwan’ Pham. And then it happened; The Brothers Finanzio ambushed a midfielder holding on to the ball for far too long and as Luca ‘I’m Calm’ Finanzio grabbed a hold of it, Petka was off. An early release sprang Frank to life as LUSC looked on. The world appeared to stop as Petka knocked the ball past the keeper to not only grab three goals, but three points.
